"Working with Dr. Emily has improved many areas of my life and I am so thankful for the blessings I now enjoy because of it"
B.B. writes:
"There were so many days that I couldn’t get out of bed; all my energy was wiped out and I felt despondent about the inability of conventional medicine and doctors to help.
My abdomen would get so bloated during the day that by evening I would not be able to wear the clothes I wore in the morning. I was in constant discomfort, sometimes pain, and I always needed to be near a toilet because I couldn’t trust my bowels. My social life and daily life was in ruins because I had to cancel so many appointments.
Dr. Emily Penney understands the reasons why my body had this illness and works on the causes not just the symptoms. She approached my healing program in multiple ways with scrupulous attention to detail.
It is difficult to fully describe all the ways my life has improved through her intervention. I suffered with IBS for many years, and now can lead a normal life! It seems like a miracle to me. Please don’t suffer any more yourself; contact Dr. Emily."

"Working with Dr. Emily has improved many areas of my life and I am so thankful for the blessings I now enjoy because of it"
A.B. writes:
"I've been working with Dr. Emily for a few months now with my IBS-C.
Before, I had been going to doctors for years with my tummy/ energy issues and not getting any help or answers. In my mind, I always thought that I didn't need to try going to a natural doctor because I could find on all of my "natural cures" on Google or Youtube.
Dr. Emily totally changed my perspective on natural medicine. She studied medicine at Bastyr University and knows her stuff when it comes to body biology. Her knowledge and credentials are neck and neck with allopathic doctors. Unlike most allopathic doctors I have come in touch with, she is very caring and thorough with her patients. She is literally changing my life. Such a breath of fresh air. If you're having health issues, give her a shot.
Working with Dr Emily has improved many areas of my life and I am so thankful for the blessings I now enjoy because of it. Low energy and fatigue was a big problem for me in the past, but I have been steadily improving with treatment. Instead of feeling heavy and slow, I now feel light and energetic. Belly and body aches are a thing of the past now too.
One area of my life that I have seen surprising results with as well has been a more clear and focused mind. I used to suffer with racing thoughts, brain fog, anxiety, and depression. I had so much going on in my mind, I just couldn’t think very clearly. It seemed to take too much effort to think or understand. Now I can actually use my brain and things make sense. I am going back to school now and thrive on learning each day.
The last area I have seen good results with has been an improvement with digestion. I had sensitivities to many foods and lived with abdominal pain much of the time. I rarely have that kind of pain anymore.
My quality of life has improved greatly because of working with Dr. Emily. I wake each day with a feeling of excitement and joy. My mind is at peace and my body is balanced. I can do the things I have always wanted to do. Life is good."

"I basically got my life back."
E.P. writes:
"I suffered two decades with what I assumed was stress-related constipation and undiagnosed IBS, and I did not want to receive an IBS diagnosis for fear that it would open up a can of worms that includes significantly regulating my lifestyle.
Before I found Dr. Emily and her naturopathic protocols, I wasted so much of time in the bathroom and I was often unavoidably late to social functions and to the office for work.
It culminated in severe intestinal pain and acid reflux that conventional medicine could not effectively deal with. Two very expensive hospital trips later (one of which I am still paying off), and all they could offer me was prescription medicine to ease my symptoms or expensive and risky surgery. I am so happy I chose another way!
At my worst, I was relying on cigarettes (even though I was not a smoker) to overcome constipation. But now I haven't smoked a cigarette for any reason in over two years!
Even though I quit eating meat 10 years ago, I was still experiencing systems, sometimes much worse, due to the gas-producing beans and vegetables and dairy that had replaced the meat in my diet.
When I found Dr. Emily I was immediately comforted by her veg-friendly approach to wellness. She met me where I was at and she did not tell me to switch back to eating meat. Instead, she suggested that while stress definitely can impact IBS and cause constipation, what I was probably dealing with is food sensitivities.
I prided myself on not having anything serious wrong with myself (or at least not admitting it socially), but after so many years of suffering and knowing that I had friends who were diagnosed with food sensitivities, I decided to follow her advice and try an elimination diet and cleanse. The cleanse was amazing and basically allowed me to experience what it is like to be 90%+ symptom free.
As I worked with Dr. Emily to carefully track my diet in a way that identified which foods triggered me, I was able to deal with the disappointment of having to give up certain foods, step by step.
I would have never had the insight or the discipline to do this on my own, but working Dr. Emily makes me feel like I am transforming my awareness about what I eat and how food affects me.
Besides not smoking anymore, other amazing outcomes I have experienced so far include: seemingly cured itchy hemmorhoids, more regular bowel movements, relief from severe bloating and gas, more energy from food due to better digestion, and much shorter bathroom trips.
I basically got my life back.
If you want to take control of your relationship to food and overcome your long-standing issues with gut health like I did, give Dr. Emily's office a call. You'll be glad you did."

What Does It Mean When My Tests Are “Normal,” but I Still Feel Awful?
If you have repeatedly been told that “everything looks normal” while you continue to struggle with bloating, pain, gas, constipation, diarrhea, or fatigue, you know how frustrating and invalidating that can feel.
Let us be clear: Normal test results do not mean that nothing is wrong, that you are exaggerating, or that your symptoms are all in your head.
They simply mean that standard testing has not identified the specific diseases or abnormalities those tests were designed to detect. Your symptoms are still real, and there may still be a great deal to discover, work with, and address.
IBS is a disorder of gut-brain interaction. It can involve changes in digestive motility, gut sensitivity, bowel function, and communication between the gut and nervous system. The brain can influence the gut, but that does not make your symptoms imaginary.
Depending on the individual, there may also be meaningful patterns involving:
-Food choices, portions, and meal timing
-Constipation, diarrhea, or altered digestive motility
-Previous gastrointestinal infections
-Stress, sleep, and nervous-system regulation
-Medications and supplements
-SIBO or other conditions
An IBS diagnosis describes a pattern of symptoms. It does not necessarily explain why those symptoms developed or reveal the combination of strategies that may help you feel better.
Inside the Heal Your Gut Program, we help you look beyond the “normal” test results, connect the pieces of your digestive story, identify actionable patterns, and develop a personalized plan for supporting your gut health. When further medical evaluation is appropriate, we also help you prepare to work more effectively with your healthcare provider.
Normal tests are not the end of your story. They are simply one piece of it.
If you are ready to stop feeling dismissed and start exploring what you can actually work with and address, schedule your free Gut Relief Assessment today.
What If I’m Afraid the Program Won’t Work for Me?
If you have lived with IBS for a long time, it is completely understandable to have doubts:
-“What if this doesn’t work for me?”
-“What if I spend more money and still feel the same?”
-“Do I really have time for this?”
-“What if my IBS is simply a lost cause?”
These questions often come from the part of us that wants to avoid disappointment, uncertainty, and change. But fear does not necessarily mean you should remain stuck. It may mean you need more information, a clearer plan, and the right support before deciding what to do next.
You do not have to ignore your concerns or make a rushed decision. A free Gut Relief Assessment gives you an opportunity to discuss your symptoms, ask questions, learn about our approach, and determine whether the Heal Your Gut Program is a good fit for you.
If fear and self-doubt have been keeping you from taking the next step, we invite you to start with a conversation, so please schedule your free Gut Relief Assessment today.
Can This Program Help Even If I Feel Like I’ve Tried Everything?
If you have tried probiotics, prebiotics, fiber supplements, reflux medications, laxatives, anti-diarrheals, restrictive diets, and countless other approaches, yet you are still struggling with IBS, you are not alone.
Many of our clients come to us feeling as though they have tried everything. Some days may be better than others, but the bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or fatigue never fully stops disrupting their lives.
The problem may not be that you have not tried enough. It may be that no one has helped you step back, connect the pieces, and explore the underlying factors contributing to your symptoms.
The Heal Your Gut Program is designed to help you:
-Look beyond short-term symptom management
-Explore the factors that may be contributing to your IBS
-Recognize patterns among your symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and overall health
-Replace random trial and error with a clear, step-by-step plan
-Build sustainable practices that support long-term digestive health
Even if you feel like you have tried it all, there may still be a different way forward.
If you are ready to stop throwing one more product or restrictive diet at your IBS and start taking a more comprehensive approach, schedule your free Gut Relief Assessment today.
What Is the Best Supplement for IBS?
We hate to break it to you, but there is no “holy grail” supplement that works for everyone with IBS.
Many people come to us after spending years searching for the one probiotic, fiber powder, digestive enzyme, or trendy supplement that will finally fix everything. Some products may temporarily relieve certain symptoms. Others do nothing or even make symptoms worse.
That does not mean supplements are never useful. It means their value depends on the individual, the symptoms being addressed, the available evidence, the timing, and how they fit into a more comprehensive plan.
IBS is complex. Just as it is rarely influenced by only one factor, it is unlikely to be resolved by one capsule, powder, or quick fix.
Inside the Heal Your Gut Program, we do not promote “supplement roulette.” We help you look at the whole picture, including:
-Your symptoms and digestive patterns
-Your health history
-Your diet and lifestyle
-Stress, sleep, and nervous-system regulation
-Medications and supplements you are already taking
-Other factors that may be contributing to your IBS
When supplements are appropriate, we use them strategically as one part of a broader, personalized plan. They are never treated as a substitute for understanding and addressing your individual digestive story.
If you are ready to stop searching for the next miracle supplement and start taking a comprehensive, step-by-step approach, schedule your free Gut Relief Assessment today.
Is My IBS Caused by Stress?
Stress can aggravate IBS symptoms, but that does not mean your symptoms are imaginary or “all in your head.”
Your digestive system and nervous system constantly communicate with each other. When that communication becomes disrupted, stress may increase gut sensitivity, alter digestive motility, and intensify symptoms such as pain, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea.
However, stress is rarely the entire story. Food, sleep, bowel function, previous infections, medications, and other individual factors may also be involved.
Inside the Heal Your Gut Program, we address stress and nervous-system regulation as one part of a whole-person approach, not as a way of dismissing your physical symptoms.
Do I Have to Follow a Low-FODMAP Diet Forever?
No. The strict phase of a low-FODMAP diet was never intended to be followed indefinitely.
The low-FODMAP approach focuses on one category of possible food triggers: fermentable carbohydrates. While this can be helpful for some people, it does not investigate the full range of foods and eating patterns that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Inside the Heal Your Gut Program, we use a different and more comprehensive dietary investigation. We look beyond FODMAPs to consider the full range of potential food triggers, as well as portions, food combinations, meal timing, and your individual reactions.
The goal is not to keep eliminating foods. Once we have identified your meaningful triggers, we guide you through a systematic reintroduction process so you can distinguish between foods you truly need to limit and foods that can return to your diet.
Ultimately, we want your long-term diet to be as broad, varied, nourishing, and whole as possible to support both your digestive health and your overall well-being.
Why Didn’t the Low-FODMAP Diet Fix My IBS?
A low-FODMAP diet can be a valuable tool for reducing symptoms, but it does not address every factor that may contribute to IBS.
You may have felt better initially, only to have your symptoms return. You may also have eliminated more and more foods without ever understanding what you actually tolerate.
Food is only one piece of the digestive picture. Motility, bowel habits, gut sensitivity, sleep, stress, previous infections, medications, and other factors may also need attention.
The Heal Your Gut Program helps you move beyond temporary restriction and examine how all the pieces fit together.
Does Everyone With IBS Have SIBO?
No. SIBO may contribute to digestive symptoms in some people, but not everyone with IBS has it, and it may not be the only factor involved.
Bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal discomfort can have many possible contributors. Assuming that every case is SIBO can lead to another cycle of testing, supplements, restrictive diets, and frustration without considering the larger picture.
We do not begin with the assumption that everyone has the same underlying issue. We begin with your individual symptoms, patterns, and history so we can identify what is most relevant and actionable for you.
Why Do My IBS Symptoms Change So Much From Day to Day?
IBS symptoms can fluctuate because digestion is affected by many variables at once.
Your symptoms may be influenced by:
-What you eat and how much
-Meal timing and eating patterns
-Constipation or changes in digestive motility
-Sleep and stress
-Physical activity
-Medications and supplements
-Hormonal changes
-The cumulative effects of several factors
This is why it can be difficult to identify patterns when you are trying to figure everything out alone. Inside the program, we help you connect the dots and replace guesswork with a clearer understanding of your digestive patterns.
Is the Heal Your Gut Program Just About Food?
Definitely not. Food is important, but it is only one part of the digestive-health picture.
The Heal Your Gut Program takes a truly holistic approach. We look at how your digestive system interacts with the rest of your body, your daily life, and your environment.
Depending on your individual history and symptoms, we may explore:
-Food choices, portions, and eating patterns
-Your microbiome and the factors that may be influencing it
-Digestive motility and bowel function
-Gut sensitivity and gut-brain communication
-Stress and nervous-system regulation
-Sleep, energy, and daily routines
-Hormone balance and hormonal patterns
-Environmental factors and everyday exposures
-Medications and supplements
-Your broader health history
Rather than handing you another restrictive diet and treating food as the only answer, we help you connect the dots and identify the areas that can be meaningfully addressed.
IBS rarely exists in isolation. That is why our approach considers the whole person, not just what is on your plate.
How Is This Different From the IBS Information I Can Find Online?
The internet can give you an endless list of diets, supplements, and lifestyle tips. What it cannot easily tell you is which information applies to you, what to try first, or how to know whether something is actually helping.
The Heal Your Gut Program turns information into action. You receive:
-A clear, step-by-step process
-Help recognizing your individual patterns
-Guidance on applying what you learn to your life
-Frequent opportunities to ask questions
-Personalized coaching and ongoing support
-A structured plan that keeps you from jumping randomly between strategies
You may not need more information. You may need help organizing it, personalizing it, and consistently putting it into practice.
Is IBS Something I Just Have to Live With Forever?
IBS is considered a chronic condition, but that does not mean you are powerless or destined to feel this way forever.
Symptoms can change, and many different strategies may help improve digestive comfort and quality of life. The challenge is determining which combination is most relevant to your particular case.
Your diagnosis is not a life sentence. There may be far more you can understand, work with, and address than you have been led to believe.
If you are ready to stop managing IBS through guesswork and start taking a comprehensive, step-by-step approach, schedule your free Gut Relief Assessment today.
